China Furniture Exports Up 8.5% in Jan–Jul 2026 as Overseas Demand Rebounds

China's furniture export sector is firmly back on a growth track. According to figures released by the General Administration of Customs on 7 August, furniture and parts exports totalled US$39.19 billion in the first seven months of 2026, an increase of 8.5% year on year — a clear reversal from the 5.9% decline recorded for the full year of 2025.

Europe leads the rebound

Trade data for January–July shows export value rising across all four major categories — seating, household furniture, bedroom furniture and parts — with shipments to European markets growing broadly. Italy alone posted a striking 113% jump in furniture imports from China during the period, while RCEP-region orders also kept expanding on continued tariff reductions.

What this means for buyers

For overseas importers, the recovery signals a busier order pipeline and tighter production capacity in peak seasons. Placing orders early — ideally 8–10 weeks ahead of target shipping dates — helps secure container space and factory slots. Buyers should also expect stricter compliance documentation: EU environmental and materials traceability requirements continue to tighten, so make sure FSC certificates, emission reports and finish declarations are part of the standard documentation pack.
